Immersion Retreat, are you "All In"?

Please check your calendars, and let me know if you would like to join us for the Immersion Retreat this year in the Wisconsin Dells. This is always a fun and powerful experience, and really the highlight of our year. It is for youth in grades 8 through 12. Check out the poster and a video from last year on this page.

The Immersion Retreat is Saturday November 12th and Sunday November 13th. The cost is $80, if the cost is a problem, please let me know, as I would like as many as possible to attend and we can work that out. I will be attending, and Patti Pflugradt will be attending as well, so we already have a male and female chaperone. I hope you can make it!

Youth Ministry Fall Kick-off!

Hi everyone,
Please join us @ 6:15pm Wednesday September 14th at Sacred Heart for the Commissioning prayer service for the Religious Education/Youth Ministry year, followed by an ice cream social. I will be available afterwards for any questions on this year's youth ministry programming. We will start off the year taking a look at the Gospel of Matthew, continuing the T3 series with Mark Hart. Two years ago we did the T3 Bible Timeline, and this year we will work on the book of Matthew in depth. While our group is usually fairly small, this is a great opportunity to connect with others, make friends, and learn a lot about your faith. We always welcome new members, so please consider attending, we would love to have you. Remember that the Immersion Retreat is coming up November 11th-13th at the Wisconsin Dells.

This year we will be having the youth ministry meetings at the same time as Religious Education, from 6:15pm to 7:15pm in the youth room at Sacred Heart School. We are hoping to start the new R.E.A.P. incentive program, as soon as our fundraiser reaches its goal. Right now we are shooting for a January Roll-out.

Free Summer Movies @ Mfld Public Library

Just wanted to invite all of you to the film series we are hosting at the library, due to licensing requirements, I cannot give you the titles, but they are on a poster at the library if you stop by. The first two films are PG13, and the second two are PG. Families/adults are welcome too!
Best of all, the room is air conditioned! :-)

FREE CHRISTIAN FILM SERIES AT THE MARSHFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Sacred Heart/Corpus Christi Life Teen Youth Group will be hosting a
FREE Christian Film Series at the Marshfield Public Library in the Beebee
Forum Room. The movies will begin at 1PM on the following Saturdays:
7/30, 8/6, 8/13, and 8/20 and will follow with a discussion. Film
titles are posted at the Marshfield Public Library. This Film Series is
open to the entire community and recommended for ages 13 and up.
Snacks/drinks will be provided. DVD Giveaway at each showing! Check it out!

Free Retreat Wednesday May 11th, 6:30pm

Hello,
Life Teen is cancelled this week, Wednesday May 4th, 2011. My family
is battling the stomach flu. (yuck). This was to be a joint youth
group with St. John's Life Teen, so it is unfortunate timing.
However, on the bright side, the week after (on May 11th) we will meet
at St. John's for a Living Stones Retreat. Thanks to Dan Kitzhaber for
extending the invitation. These retreats involve testimonies, skits,
games, and discussion groups all directed to help youth encounter
Jesus. It is a great opportunity, don't miss it!

Ash Wednesday....

Hello friends!
Normally Life Teen is Wednesdays from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday (3/9/11) and Sacred Heart will have Masses at 8am and 6pm. Corpus Christi will have a Mass at 7:30pm. Life Teen will be at the normal time, but I encourage you to attend an Ash Wednesday Mass if there is a choice between Life Teen and Mass.

On another note, I am considering switching the Life Teen time to 6:15pm to 7:15pm to coincide with the Religious Education hour for the 2011-12 school year. I had a request to do this from a family, as it would make transportation simpler if there are siblings in both Religious Education and Life Teen. Please send me your feedback on how you feel about this. I appreciate it!

Just a reminder, see the guidelines for fasting on Ash Wednesday below, and I pray this this Lent will draw you closer to the heart of Jesus

The distribution of ashes reminds us of our own mortality and calls us to repentance. In the early Church, Ash Wednesday was the day on which those who had sinned, and who wished to be readmitted to the Church, would begin their public penance. The ashes that we receive are a reminder of our own sinfulness, and many Catholics leave them on their foreheads all day as a sign of humility.

Narnia Marathon! (UPDATED)

Hello everyone, hope you are having a wonderful Advent.

Thanks for your patience, we are rescheduling again. :)

OK, this Sunday the Marathon of the first two Narnia films will start at 4:30p.m. and go until about 9:45pm. This will be in the youth room at Sacred Heart School. All teens and their families are welcome, these movies are both rated PG. We will take a little time after each film to briefly talk about the Christian symbolism in the books that the films were based on. This is a free event, please let me know if you can join us so that I can plan. We will have pizza in between the films and snacks and drinks available. If someone would like to bring cookies or bars, that would be excellent. :)

On Thursday, December 16th we are planning on attending the third Narnia film, voyage of the Dawn Treader. There is a 5pm and a 7:15pm showing at Rogers Cinema in Marshfield. Please let me know your preference. The movie is just under two hours long.

Hi everyone, I would like to take two weeks off from Life Teen based on your feedback. This Wednesday there are many conflicts, and the week after that is the first day of school, so I would like to resume the second week of school on Wednesday September 8th. I hope you all had a good summer, based on the facebook photos it is safe to say you did. :)

November 12th-14th
Immersion Retreat in the Wisconsin Dells (Chula Vista)
This is the most successful youth event the Diocese does, please come! This includes time in the indoor water park.

Yeah!!! Summer break is almost here! We have some great Life Teen events coming up this summer!

JULY 17-19
Threshold Retreat
The “Threshold Retreat”, a free retreat for young men 16 years and older will be Friday, July 17th, 3 p.m. through Sunday, July 19th, 6 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, MN and hosted by Father Joseph Hirsch, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of La Crosse. The cost is FREE! Here is a personal invite and message from Father Hirsch: “…As you go through high school and college you are passing through a very important “threshold” in your life as you go from young man to adult. Every time I go to speak to groups of young people they ask questions like, “How do you know what you are supposed to do with your life?” Or “How does God guide us in our lives?” In the “Threshold Retreat” we will be dealing with these very important, yet fundamental questions which we all ask. Several priests will join me and a group of our seminarians to plan these three days of reflection and prayer. Our seminarians come from a variety of backgrounds, some in business, education, and some who are in college at this time. Just a couple of years ago they were where you are now. This retreat is a great opportunity to sit down with these men and listen to how they are discovering their call in life and their vocation. It is a time to ask them questions about how to face the next stage in life and how to be open to all possibilities of God’s call for you whether to the single life, religious, married, or to the priesthood and to the choice of your career. Life Teen Mass and Life Night “Big Brother Big Sister”, Saturday, April 4, 5 - 9 p.m.
The next Life Teen Mass will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 at Sacred Heart, followed by the “Big Brother Big Sister” Life Night for confirmed students, 8-12 grades, until 9 p.m. in the Life Teen Youth Room in the Sacred Heart School. The goal of this Night is to show the teens how they are a part of the communion of saints – our holy family of faith - and that God has
placed a call to each and every one of them to pursue holiness and sainthood. The teens will realize the big brothers and big sisters that they truly have in the communion of saints. Pizza! Music! Fun!

The next Life Teen Mass will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday March 14 at Sacred Heart, followed by the “Thy Kingdom Come” Life Night for high school teens until 9 p.m. in the Life Teen Youth Room in the Sacred Heart School.

“Unstoppable, Part II”, Youth Retreat for 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Students
Wednesday, March 18, 6:15 p.m. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are invited to attend a youth retreat based on the life of St. Paul in honor of the “Jubilee Year of St. Paul” and led by Youth Ministers Dave and Mandy Alcott. Session 6: “Unstoppable, Part II” will be Wednesday, March 18, 6:15 p.m. -7:15 p.m. in the Life Teen Youth Room at Sacred Heart School. There will be optional hangout time for the 6th-8th grade students in the Life Teen Youth Room until 8 p.m. There will also be an art project for younger siblings in the art room until 8 p.m. The last retreat session will be on April 15. Samaritan House - 6-12 grade students are invited to serve a meal at the Samaritan House on Friday, March 20. Serving a meal for those less fortunate is a beautiful way to live the Lenten message. Contact Dave and Mandy Alcott at 387-1317 for more information.

We had an awesome Life Teen night with Life Teen Mass and "Between Friends" on January 10! It was great to meet new people, and we look forward to more students joining us in the future.

Due to dangerously low temps. predicted for Saturday, January 24, we need to cancel the Memory Lane Farm Life Night.

We will still be celebrating Life Teen Mass at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart, and if enough people are interested, we would love to have a Life Teen social night in the Life Teen Youth Room and gym in the Sacred Heart School following Life Teen Mass.
